Application Please include all the following with your application:
- An application letter explaining in detail why you are applying
- Your CV
- A certified copy of your university degree or college diploma
- One recent passport photo
- A portfolio with samples of your work as a student and also of your professional work, if applicable.

15 July is the final deadlines for enrolment to the course after successful completion of the aptitude assessment procedure.
Entry qualifications 1. a completed diploma course or a bachelor’s degree in a design discipline; 2. the successful completion of the aptitude assessment procedure developed exclusively for the Department of Design. The aptitude assessment procedure is carried out twice a year. Application timeframes are March 1st to May 1st for commencement in September (winter term). The aptitude assemssment procedure is ruled by the current version of the Feststellung der studiengangsbezogenen künstlerisch-gestalterischen Eignung für die Master-Studiengänge Kommunikationsdesign und Applied Art and Design an der Fachhochschule Düsseldorf
Please note: There is an initial review procedure for applicants from abroad, which is conducted by uni-assist. As a foreign national you also have to show evidence of a certain command of the German Language. More information available under International Office and www.uni-assist.de
Summary of the aptitude assessment procedure for the MA programme Applied Art and Design
The aptitude assessment procedure consists of two parts
1. A portfolio with samples of your work You are requested to submit works that show your particular interest in the study programme of your choice, demonstrating an individual profile. Subject of assessment are creativity and artistic independence, the quality of the realizations as well as methodical and conceptual abilities and the powers of imagination and expression. Additionally to this you are asked to write an application letter explaining in detail your interest in the MA programme in question also in relation to the samples of work you are submitting. Applicants will be preselected by the Department of Design on the basis of the submissions.
2. An interview Approximately three weeks after the application deadline the selected applicants will receive an invitation to attend for interview, which will take place four weeks later. The interview gives the opportunity to discuss the samples of work and the application letter with a commission. The interview lasts approximately 15 minutes and will be marked subsequently. Criteria for assessment is the ability for systematic interpretation of your own works and the ability to portray your aims and motivation for the study programme.
